Stockholm’s Rooftop Bars
Mosebacketerassen
Open every day during the summer starting from lunch until late in the evening, the Mosebacke terrace on Södermalm has lots of room to mingle and enjoy some outstanding views over the city. If you’re lucky, you might even catch some music.
Plus, during any season, you can enjoy Chapagnebaren, which also has an amazing view over the city. Bonus info: Mosebacke shares a location with Södra Teatern. Check out the schedule and combine your visit with a show.
Sjöstadens Skybar
Sjöstadens Skybar is located just across the bridge from Södermalm in the trendy waterside neighborhood of Hammarby Sjöstad. You won’t miss the building, as it’s one of Stockholm’s newest landmarks, soaring 102 meters high.
Follow the buttons on the elevator to a stylish rooftop bar with floor-to-ceiling windows that can be enjoyed year-round. Plus, in summer, there’s also a terrace with a retractable roof. The best ways to reach Sjöstadens Skybar are from the tram (tvärbanan) stop Mårtensdal, or simply walk across the bridge to Hammarby Sjöstad from Skanstull and enjoy the view of boats on the water between the two on the way.
Pelago
Another new addition to the Stockholm rooftop scene is Pelago, which is quickly building a buzz through word-of-mouth. With multiple bars scattered across its large terrace, it’s a wonderful place to take in a breathtaking view of the city.
This bar sits high above Slussen on top of Katarinahuset in Södermalm, so you’ll either need to take a ride up Katarinahissen or make your way down Urvädersgränd like the locals and across the Katarina gångbro walkway. Hint: it’s next to Södra Teatern.
Celeste
Also located on Södermalm is Celeste, which is not only a rooftop bar, but also a restaurant with excellent food. In the summer, the rooftop terrace is open with a beautiful view over the southern part of the city. This upscale restaurant has even won some awards, so you might want to make a reservation before visiting.
The Capital
Not so much a secret anymore, but the Capital is a centrally located hotel bar, with an outdoor terrace in the summer, located on the 8th floor of the Scandic Continental Hotel. Enjoy a glass of cava or one of their tasty cocktails with some light snacks and a view of the magnificent city hall building.
This rooftop bar is also open in the winter, sans terrace. But the surrounding windows still give you an excellent view over the busy central station.
Takpark by Urban Deli
Occupying the ninth floor above the Urban Deli hotel and restaurant at Sveavägen 44, is a lush urban escape offering 360° views of the city. If you’re in the mood for more than drinks, they have food to offer as well. Plus, it’s rumored to have the best atmosphere in town. Open year-round!
Ersta Terass
A little off the normal tourist path, but still easily reachable in just 2 bus stops from Slussen (Bus 2), is Ersta Terass. This is a great summer place to sit out on the terrace and enjoy a nice lunch or coffee. During the summer, there are often events in the evenings, where you can enjoy a drink and entertainment while looking over the incredible view (shown in the photo above). Himlen
The rooftop bar and restaurant, Himlen, is high above Södermalm, offering sweeping views across Stockholm. While it doesn’t have an outdoor terrace, the stylish indoor setting with floor-to-ceiling windows makes it a cozy spot to take in the skyline during winter. The bar serves a wide range of cocktails, wines, and other drinks, so it’s a popular choice for both relaxed evenings and special occasions.
