10 Best Outdoor Restaurants in Stockholm
Artilleriet Restaurang
In the summer, Artilleriet is the place to be in Östermalm. This restaurant and cocktail bar has a perfect location in the sun and lots of Swedes tend to gather here after work. An even better idea is to schedule your dinner here after a trip through the amazingly impressive Army Museum, which is housed in the same building.
Kajsas i Parken
Known as Södermalm’s coziest meeting place in the summer, Kajsas i Parken is a great place to enjoy good weather in a peaceful park near the impressive Sofia Kyrka. Menu items include burgers, salads and sandwiches, but you can also get beer, wine and snacks if you’re up for something lighter.
Mälarpaviljongen
This cafe and restaurant on the water lies on Kungsholmen with a gorgeous view of Södermalm. Most people enjoy walking the sunny, waterfront path either before or after visiting this lovely place for their seasonal, creative menu. Only open in the summer, it’s a wonderful place to spend a relaxing afternoon. And why not walk to Rålambshovsparken or the opposite direction to visit Stockholm’s very impressive City Hall while you’re at it. It’s a great way to work off some of Mälarpaviljongen‘s tasty desserts.
Hornstulls Marknad
On Saturdays and Sundays, Hornstull Marknad is open starting from the first weekend in April to the last weekend in September. This lively area is filled with food trucks covering cuisines from around the world, and there are plenty of platformed seats to sit and eat while people-watching. Make your way further down to discover some treasures at the craft market booths, and perhaps just a little further down to Tantolunden park for a dip in the water or to rent a kayak! Closest tunnelbana station is Hornstull.
Café Ektorpet at Waldermarsudde
If you’ve spent the day on Djurgården visiting the many museums, you may want to take a break with some peace and quiet by the water at Café Ektorpet. This outdoor cafe is connected to Waldermarsudde, which often has art exhibitions to visit. Sample salads, baked potatoes or even waffles. Or enjoy a drink and a small treat, kick back and relax. You deserve it!
Bananas
Bananas has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it’s a great place to visit year round. During the summer, the outdoor seating is located on the popular walkway, Katarina Bangata, where there are markets on the weekend and plenty of interesting locals walking by. Bananas does a great pizza, as well as drinks, but there are plenty of other menu items as well to experience.
Supper
Supper goes on the list as both an indoor-outdoor restaurant, mainly because it’s outdoor area is in a courtyard surrounded by walls. But that doesn’t take away from the al fresco ambiance. With a menu of South American themed dishes to share (or not), this Östermalm establishment gives friendly service that doesn’t disappoint. But you might want to make a reservation, as it does tend to get popular in the summer.
Omnipollo’s Flora
In the large park of Humlegården in the Östermalm district, you’ll find Omnipollo’s Flora. This completely outdoor restaurant is very casual, serving craft beer, burgers and salads. Only open in the summer, but one of the best places you can be on a warm, summer’s evening.
Lyckan i Tanto
A friendly, cheap place to have a nice drink or light meal. Located directly in Tantolunden, by the water, Lyckan is a great place to relax and people-watch during the summer months.
Tabbouli Djurgården
If you’re out on Djurgården admiring the nature and museums, why not treat yourself to an excellent lunch or dinner at Tabbouli? This beautiful outdoor, summer restaurant serves over 40 small, and grilled, outstanding Lebanese dishes to share.
